How many of you have set a resolution that you were ready to start January 1st but are already finding it quite challenging? My guest today, Dr. Jodi Larry, has a message for all of you! It is not about whether you stuck with it or about how long you were on that horse; it actually has everything to do with how you get back on that horse, how you manage those failures, and how you start fresh again tomorrow.
Dr. Jodi Larry has built her business over the last 14 years on helping people understand the things that drive our behavior. She is an expert at bringing mindset to the table — the mindset that allows us to shift the behaviors that are holding us back. And it’s not about having more willpower — she does all of this deeply transformative work by teaching us how to be more self-compassionate and empathetic towards our goals.
You will not survive 2020 without understanding a little bit more about Dr. Jodi Larry and the wisdom she brings to the table!

Now sitting at nearly 150 episodes, I’ve come to realize that there’s one topic that we haven’t unpacked or explored nearly as much as we should have. And that is autoimmune conditions. Autoimmune conditions affect women infinitely more frequently than they do men — and especially for busy, stressed-out ladies like ourselves!
So today, I’ve asked one of my friends — Dr. Alison Danby, a renowned expert on autoimmune conditions — to come on and share her wisdom all about autoimmune conditions. She’s going to take us through why it is that so many women are actually missing out on the opportunity to be diagnosed with an autoimmune condition and what we should all be looking at not only to reverse them but to prevent them from emerging in the first place!
Key Takeaways:
[1:02] About today’s episode with Dr. Alison Danby!
[1:57] Welcoming Dr. Alison Danby to the podcast!
[2:27] Alison tells us about her background and why autoimmune conditions are an area of women’s health that she is so passionate about.
[3:26] What exactly does it mean to have an autoimmune condition?
[4:41] Are autoimmune conditions happening with an increased frequency or are we just becoming better at detecting them earlier on?
[5:45] A third of the women we see in our practice have positive antibodies against the thyroid. Is this trend something Dr. Danby is also seeing in her own practice?
[6:44] The importance of running antibody tests to check for autoimmune conditions.
[8:33] Why are women more at risk for autoimmune conditions than men?
[10:18] Dr. Danby shares some of the tools she uses in and out of her practice for measuring the effects of stress.
[11:03] Why heart rate variability is so vitally important.
[13:00] Dr. Danby explains the link between stress and the gut.
[16:55] What can we do to treat autoimmune conditions?
[20:09] How often does Dr. Danby find that they are able to successfully reverse an autoimmune condition at her practice?
[24:14] Dr. Danby walks us through what the experience is like to work with a naturopathic doctor or a functional medicine practitioner in terms of attempting to resolve an autoimmune condition.
[26:14] Dr. Danby shares more about her own personal journey with her autoimmune condition.
[28:31] The importance of working with a practitioner.

More About Dr. Alison Danby
Dr. Alison Danby earned her Bachelor of Science, Honors, in Biological Science degree from the University of Guelph with a major in Human Kinetics and Sports Injury Management. Before her journey led her to naturopathic medicine, she received a Bachelor of Education in secondary school mathematics and health education at the University of Exeter, UK, teaching in England and Canada for two and a half years. Dr. Danby knew she wanted something different, though, and so she returned to Canada to attend medical school — but not your regular medical school. She wanted to learn proactive medicine so she completed a four-year program in Naturopathic Medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in Toronto, Ontario.
Dr. Alison Danby always knew there was more to learn and more to offer her future patients, so to further her education and compliment her background in Naturopathic medicine, she delved into the world of integrative and evidence-based medicine. She completed Advanced Training in Applied Functional Medicine at the Institute of Functional Medicine. Dr. Danby believes in the life-changing effects of Naturopathic Medicine, and so for the last half-decade, she has also been a representative on the Provincial and National Associations of Naturopathic Doctors.

Elena and I would love to hear from you! Let us know if you follow any of the negative patterns Elena highlighted in today’s episode. If you do, how are you going to commit to changing that? And do you already follow any of the health habits that lead to success? If you don’t already, make another commitment to add one of these into your life too! And be sure to follow-up with us on The Entrepology Podcast Facebook page — because when you’re accountable, you’re helpable!
Sometimes when we get into the zone, where we’re feeling like a badass and working on being “successful,” we resort to this technique — that for most of us, got us to where we are today — which is this capacity to put our heads down and actually do the work. And while that is extremely important, I guarantee you this: no one can take it to the next level by continuing with that technique. Everyone reaches a point — whether that be in their career or life — where they truly need to listen to their body. And your body is going to be the one that’s going to tell you that it’s time to level up. And by ‘level up’ I mean really level up and discover that opportunity that’s out there for you to achieve with a whole new understanding of elegance and simplicity.
And we’ll be learning all about this from my incredible guest today, Susi Hately. Susi has a background — not only as a high achiever — but as a kinesiologist as well as a yoga therapist. She works with high-achieving individuals and teaches them how to really listen to their bodies and, in turn, expand past a level they never thought possible. She knows that the secret to ‘ease’ (within both our careers and life) actually exists within our own physiology.
What you’re going to learn today from Susi is seriously game-changing! You’re going to learn all about burn-out, leveling-up, and achieving that leveling-up through ease and simplicity. So, if you’re not finding that your journey is becoming easier as you get further along in your career, and you’re starting to feel some of that fatigue from pushing yourself day after day, then I want you to listen in to today’s episode. There’s an opportunity for all of us to make everything just a little bit easier while still achieving more.

More About Susi Hately
Susi helps successful executives and entrepreneurs recover and get back on their game, regain clarity of mind, get better rest, and to finally feel like themselves again!
She is a best-selling author and has created two programs that were studied at the University of Calgary — Cancer Recovery and Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. She has also published and produced ten best-selling books and video series to support individuals with their healing recovery.
Susi’s work with entrepreneurs and executives began with referrals from medical doctors and sleep specialists. All of her clients were hard drivers who pushed symptoms down thinking they were getting in the way of their success. Her specialty is working with these clients — who are some of the most deeply logical, non-feeling type of people — learn to feel and understand that their symptoms are their body’s communication system; that they aren’t a sign that they are getting old or breaking down. She teaches her clients that you can learn to decode the symptoms — and through that, you will regain your focus, your sense of mental clarity, your power, and your leadership!

More About Holly Chantal
Holly Chantal is a Business Coach and Brand Strategist who has been honing her craft since 2009! She helps experienced business owners who have hit their “upper limit” by helping them figure out what is next and bring their brand, business model, and marketing systems into alignment with their next level of growth.
Holly starts this whole process by helping business owners get clear on what it is they truly want in their business (which is often not what they think!), and by uncovering where their limiting beliefs and subconscious blocks are that are sabotaging their efforts. Then, she helps by reverse-engineering a path for bringing their current business to its next evolution without alienating their audience or imploding what is already working!
Since starting her business, Holly has created over 200 brands from idea to launch including copywriting, website design, and marketing strategy; has managed up to 20 website design projects at once and kept them on time and on budget; has made changes to a client’s messaging strategy that resulted in a $25,000 increase in revenue that month; created a brand positioning strategy for a client that moved them from six-figures in revenue to seven-figures within a year; produced content for videos and blogs that resulted in a 100% increase in traffic; and much, much more!

Holly and I are challenging you to take the ‘Yeah, but…’ challenge! If you have a goal, an idea, or something you really want in your business but as soon as you think of it you go, ‘Yeah, but…’ It’s time to change your perspective! Whatever those objections are that come up for you, it’s time to play with them and look at it from different angles! Write down these objections and journal about them. Ask yourself, ‘Is that true?’ and ‘Have other people done it?’ and ‘What are some ways I could get around that challenge?’ … See what comes up for you until you get to what the reality is of what you’re really dealing with! Once you find that out, it’s time to work on that piece.
Remember: you can have, be, do whatever you want! And be sure to let us know how this goes for you and follow-up with us on The Entrepology Podcast Facebook page — because when you’re accountable, you’re helpable!
My guest today is an expert in a really particular field: concussions. And before you stop and go, ‘This is not relevant to me,’ let me tell you that within our lifetime, either you or I (or someone very close to us) will likely experience a concussion. And that old wisdom that we learned when we were young — that you should put someone to bed and wake them up every hour to manage that concussion — is really old news!
Melissa Biscardi is a registered neuroscience nurse, osteopathic therapist, and a concussion specialist. She’s also a member of our business mastermind called the Clinician Code!
I really wanted Melissa to join us today specifically talk to us about the latest research with respect to concussions and what we should all do post-concussion. What I want everyone to be armed with is the exact formulation of what you need to be doing and looking for, should you — or someone you know — experience a concussion. Head injuries can happen at a moment’s notice. It’s not something that’s reserved for athletes — it can simply happen as we move through our day-to-day lives! And knowing how to react and respond when that situation emerges makes an absolute difference in both your short and long-term health. In fact, Melissa goes over some of the research in this episode related to how concussions can actually impact women’s menstrual cycles and their post-partum period up to 10 years later!
Not only is the information presented in this episode super important, but Melissa is also equally entertaining! Be sure to tune in for this highly informative episode!

We all know what we’re supposed to be doing with respect to lifestyle habits, but the reality is that most of us don’t stick with it. My guest today, Dr. Kristy Lewis, is a Holistic Nutritionist and Naturopathic Doctor — as well as a colleague of mine that I’ve grown to love and admire for many, many years now!
Dr. Kristy Lewis’ secret sauce is in her practice and her approach to women’s health. In particular, it is through helping people appropriately sequence the lifestyle elements and habits that we need to have in place to uplevel our life and help us understand why we just don’t do it. It’s all well and good for us to share all the things you should be doing but if you don’t have a framework to actually make these habits stick, they aren’t necessarily going to move your life forward.
My interview today with Dr. Kristy Lewis was fun, insightful, and tremendously practical. We talk about how we start to stack and strategically implement lifestyle medicine, why willpower is BS, how we can actually stay on the track of ongoing improvement vs. falling back into our old ways, and the hidden choices we’re making throughout our day with respect to our health that have the capacity to make a massive impact. This episode is jam-packed with some incredibly valuable information so I hope you’ll all tune in!

[2:37] Welcoming my friend Dr. Kristy Lewis to the podcast.

[9:25] Kristy speaks on empowerment and the power of choice.

More About Kristy Lewis
Kristy Lewis has spent most of her life passionately learning, experiencing and sharing everything to do with health and wellness — and believe her when she says she has lived every step of this journey!
She has run marathons, hiked mountains, become a yogi, spent weeks in silent meditation. She has suffered from chronic pain, burn-out, and anxiety. She has been vegan, paleo, and a raw foodist; she has restricted food, and she has binged food. She has gone to retreats and she has led retreats. She has been divorced, left a successful business career, studied to become a Naturopathic doctor, traveled, found the love of her life, and had a beautiful daughter.
Through this all, she has come to understand the concept of balance and how to prioritize her health goals depending on her internal and external experiences. She believes that the simple things are the most important things when it comes to caring for your body. She loves her journey because it was her own and she has much to share with anyone willing to listen.
She wants to understand you, your current health challenges, the obstacles that are getting in your way and the direction that you want to take your life. She will listen to you and learn about your own unique and authentic life. She will make the connection between your current state of health and your heart goals and from this knowledge map out your best health plan.

It was my pleasure today to sit down with one of my entrepreneurial heroes, Giovanni Marsico! Giovanni is the founder of the Archangel Summit and the Archangel community, Archangel Academy. Through his work, it is his mission to be able to empower entrepreneurs who are visionaries and have a deep desire to change the world. Through his programming, masterminds, and frankly, his attitude and leadership, Giovanni is shifting an entire generation of entrepreneurs and giving them the tools to take their dreams and turn them into a reality.
Our conversation today was epic — just like all the conversations I have with Giovanni! And what I loved the most was that we not only talked about how to eliminate limiting beliefs, but also what we can do as entrepreneurs to dream as big as possible and hone the skills associated with that. [9:00] How to become better at dreaming and generating ideas by treating it as a skill.
[11:36] What separates a good entrepreneur from a great one? The ability to let go of the things that will not serve you in a bigger way.
[13:42] Has anything that Giovanni has created been an accident where he was just iterating and it really took off?
[15:50] How did Giovanni begin to build up his network of connecting incredible people together?
[19:28] What events and meetups, such as the Archangel Summit, are incredibly important to your journey as an entrepreneur?
[24:40] Giovanni gives an overview of the Archangel Summit.
[28:14] What is Giovanni dreaming of right now?
[31:40] How does Giovanni manage his limiting beliefs and remove the blocks to what he believes is possible?

Dream BIG! Giovanni recommends scheduling in ‘dream time,’ building a support team around you (who are really good at executing on your dreams), as well as scheduling in time for self-care. On top of that, another big piece of the puzzle is taking time to journal out ‘sh*tty’ ideas. Because when you practice doing idea generation you will get better at idea generation. Treat it as a skill! This is key in order to be able to effectively execute on your dreams or vision. Today’s episode was so important! I sat down with my dear friend, Adele Tevlin, and we spoke about a new era of leadership — something we are both incredibly passionate about. In particular, we dissected the idea of female leadership and the notion of what it means to be a female leader, both for ourselves as women, but also why the world needs us now more than ever. We also looked at this idea of gender gap and how it is really a symptom of self-efficacy and a lack of confidence, as well as some of the root causes as to why we simply can’t break through the way we want to.
In the next hour, we lay out a blueprint for female leadership. I truly believe that there’s a deficit of leadership systemically in our society and that this is really an opportunity for a new type of leader, a new authenticity, and a new way of doing things. And I believe we all have the capacity to be able to deliver upon this.
So join in on our conversation today as we go really deep into what it means to be a leader as a woman!
Key Takeaways:
[1:24] About today’s episode.
[3:00] Welcoming Adele to the podcast!
[3:33] Adele gives us some background on who she is, how she has gotten to where she is today, and why she is so incredibly passionate about this topic that we’re discussing!
[6:12] What’s getting in the way of women truly rising to become leaders?
[7:50] What does Adele mean by self-efficacy? Why do some women struggle with this? And how do you build up your self-efficacy?
[11:33] Is self-efficacy linked to sports and activities as a youth? How else can we build self-efficacy as women?
[14:45] Here’s the thing about the ego-mind: it’s always going to look for the negative.
[16:22] How to begin shifting our mindset to feeling positive and believing we’ll succeed.
[19:45] Why do women sabotage?

Today’s interview with Dr. Adi Jaffe is incredibly timely because September is named as the National Recovery Month by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Dr. Adi Jaffe is the author of The Abstinence Myth and the founder of the IGNTD Podcast along with his wife, Sophie Jaffe, and is an expert on addiction. He often talks about the pervasive shame that we have in the traditional treatment models of addiction and the problem with the black-and-white labels that we apply upon it. He says the thing about addiction and the reasons we become addicted, is that they are actually pervasive to all of us. There are times where we all want to escape the feelings of our life, and it is usually that desire that triggers any form of addiction in the first place.
This conversation was deep, insightful, and it breaks all the rules of how we traditionally talk about addiction and recovery! Dr. Jaffe tells us his deeply personal story about his own addiction and recovery, explains why traditional recovery models are failing us, and provides insight around the myth of abstinence. He explains how to actually get on the path of recovery without abstinence, how to not externalize emotions and better manage our feelings, the biological and environmental components to addiction and how we can actually alter them for the better, and much, much more! This episode is jam-packed with so much valuable information that is incredibly important, regardless of where you are in life!

More About Dr. Jennifer Tanner
As an award-winning Naturopathic Doctor, Dr. Jennifer Tanner believes in movement. She was introduced to the world of medicine when she injured herself competing in tetrathlons (running, shooting, horseback riding and swimming). Surgery and pain killers were the only options she was given. Frustrated that three knee surgeries still didn’t correct the problem, she searched elsewhere for options. After decades of research, working as a Western University Athletic Therapist and at the Sydney Olympics and logging thousands of patient hours, she created the STRONGER Inside Protocols. With these protocols, she now has the energy and strength to run marathons. She helps optimize the health and performance of executives, runners, and those looking to bring fitness back into their lives with three major goals: recharging their energy, injury prevention and treatment, and healthy digestion.
Dr. Jennifer Tanner is dedicated to helping people Design Your Health. Together with her clients and patients, she creates a roadmap that aligns with their health goals and takes the stress off of them so they can live more freely.
Dr. Jennifer Tanner is also a mother to three wildly animated children, is a horse lover, marathon runner, and an unshakable optimist dedicated to helping others feel their best. She strives to help others find their Inner Superhero so they have the energy to get back to doing what they love doing.

Recently, I had the experience to talk at the Mindshare Summit in San Diego about my vision for the future of health. This event is full of massively famous thought leaders and people that I really look up to in my own work. When I first found out I was going to speak in front of all of these people, I was excited. But that quickly turned into anxiety.
So, today, I want to talk to you all about this experience while it is still fresh! Because a lot of us, in the growth of our business and in our movement through life, face these opportunities where we tend to procrastinate and push them off because we feel like we are not ready. And in this moment, where I got up on the stage to speak, not only did I feel not ready, but I felt that the other people presenting were so much further ahead than I was.
But, what if, rather than saying, ‘I don’t like that feeling of anxiety,’ or ‘I need to escape that feeling,’ you worked on harnessing it? Because we all face these fears and anxieties — and in actuality, they’re important to our growth as human beings!
Key Takeaways:
[:16] About today’s episode.
[3:25] What I’ve learned in this mix of anxiety and procrastination.
[3:56] Why I’m sharing this moment with you all today.
[5:58] What I will be talking about at the Mindshare Summit.
[6:55] The lesson in all of this!
[8:18] Thanks for tuning in! Please share your thoughts on this episode on any social media and let me know how you combat your anxieties!
