I’ve been trying to get today’s guest on for a loooong time! Dr. Tyna Moore is a naturopathic doctor, and chiropractor, and success coach for fellow N.D.s looking to amplify their impact in the world. Needless to say, she and I are on a similar mission and are really aligned in how we enjoy helping people. Her expertise, however, when it comes to clinical care, is different than mine. She is an expert in pain management and has an intuitive sense in terms of understanding where pain originates in the body. Very often, what she observes is that pain is an issue with the central nervous system — and in particular, inflammation in the brain. And what was so fascinating about our conversation today was looking at the applicability of that idea as it pertains to those of us who may be suffering from chronic pain issues.
In this episode, we really explore the connection between the mind and the physical manifestations that we have in our body, and some of the really cool, regenerative injection therapies that are available to us as consumers of better health care.

If I were to ask you your greatest fear in the world, statistics tell me that aside from death, most of you would likely answer public speaking. While the connection between public speaking and health isn’t necessarily in focus for all of us right away, what I hear behind the scenes at my practice is that powerful women (on big missions to change the world!) eventually butt up against the need to publicly speak. It scares them and induces anxiety, and they end up avoiding the next right step in their business.
So, it is my pleasure to introduce this week’s guest, Johanna Walker. She is a speaking coach and is known as the fear-blasting, storytelling maven for coaches, consultants, leaders, and change-makers. She’s the founder of Women Who Speak, a transformational speaker coaching program for female leaders, and she’s the co-founder and co-host of Boulder, Colorado’s popular bi-monthly story slam series, Truth Be Told.
In this incredibly insightful episode with Johanna, we speak all about gaining the confidence to connect to your story and share it with others in a public setting, getting comfortable with being “judged,” how to be authentically vulnerable, and how to leverage the power of storytelling as an entrepreneur.

“It begins with being willing to walk towards the fear,” as Johanna says. Be willing to change your old story and consider the possibility that you have something to say that is of value. There is nothing too small or too big to share. Work on being physically present and connect to your body — and therefore, your stories. It all starts by taking that first step by being willing to show up for the discomfort! You may have guessed that I have a little thing for entrepreneurs — and I’m especially excited about the idea of women doing really badass things in this industry. My guest today is Justyna Kozlowska — the founder of NAGI, a Canadian company that makes really incredible nutritionally balanced energy bars and snacks.
What I absolutely love about what Justyna’s story is that she was just this person who consistently took the right next step. She was a health and fitness expert and was frustrated that she couldn’t find foods that were consistently clean and aligned with how she wanted to work with her clients. And like most entrepreneurs, rather than going out and looking for it, she decided she was just going to make it herself. That’s how the NAGI energy bar was born. These bars are raw, organic, non-GMO, vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free — and here’s the kicker: they’re actually delicious.
Justyna’s story is truly a beacon of inspiration so I’ll hope you’ll join us this episode to hear all about her journey, the health and power behind her bars, and learn how you can also fiercely tap into your entrepreneurial spirit and join her in creating what you crave.

More About Justyna Kozlowska
Justyna develops relationships with Canadian, U.S., & EU manufacturers to help them expand their business into new markets. She’s also the founder of a healthy and delicious brand of organic nutrition bars and snacks — NAGI — (nā-gï/), in Polish, means naked.
She believes that food should nourish from within, and provide the energy needed to keep a body active, and a mind sharp throughout the day. Focusing on nutritionally-balanced food on the go that is natural, delicious, free of major allergens, lower in sugar, higher in protein and fiber, in 2014 she incorporated her healthy snack, Christmas Kitchen project and self-executed its business development across major natural grocery markets in Canada. In 2017 Inner-J took a massive rebrand to what you see now as NAGI (means naked in Polish). She understands the health food market and its growth trends in Canada, US, and Europe.
In her spare time, she continues to be active in her community and gives back through organized charity events. While not working, she loves to spend time with her family and friends; cycling, hiking, walking her dogs, and strength training.

There’s really nothing worse than feeling completely confident going into a situation and then at the very last minute realizing you likely have the worst breath in the world! Today’s guest, Ryan Nolan, is a Dental Materials Scientist. And what I love about Ryan’s story and what I enjoyed so much about this interview is the beautiful intersection between medicine and entrepreneurship that perfectly encapsulates what The Entrepology Podcast is all about.
An important ‘aha’ moment in his career came for him late at night when doing research at his apartment and it dawned on him that silver could penetrate plaque and he hypothesized: what if we could leverage silver to get calcium through biofilm so that we could actually increase the health of the enamel in the mouth? And guess what? His hypothesis ended up being correct! This launched him into a career learning more about biofilms, plaque, and the intersection between what’s happening in our mouth and its systemic influences on our health.
In this episode we go way beyond bad breath and talk about oral care in a way you’ve never been taught before. You’ll never forget to brush your teeth again.
Key Takeaways:
[1:59] About today’s episode with my guest, Ryan Nolan!
[4:21] Ryan Nolan’s background and journey on how he got to where he is today.
[6:35] What is a biofilm?
[7:37] Ancestral patterns that show how teeth have evolved and how we should care for them.
[10:35] Are Ryan and other researchers seeing associations between the oral microbiome and gut microbiome?
[13:34] The types of patterns Ryan sees in terms of dysfunction in the mouth and the systemic effects they could have.
[17:42] How salivary hormones play a role in our health.
[20:41] Ryan explains some cutting-edge, progressive dental evaluations and what we can do better, ourselves, to care for our teeth.
[29:41] Is there a way to whiten our teeth without destroying our oral microbiome?
[31:16] Ryan explains oil pulling and the research behind it.
[33:22] Do we really need to see our dentist every six months?
[36:52] In terms of our own oral hygiene, what kind of tips does Ryan give his own patients?
[42:11] Ryan’s views on fluoride.
[51:17] Ryan’s key performance indicators!
[56:14] Where to follow-up with Ryan and learn more about what he’s up to.

Diet and oral hygiene both play a role in optimal oral health! Just working on eliminating some of the refined sugars you may have in your diet, aiming to dental floss once more per week than you already do, keeping up with your twice-a-year dentist visits, and eating lots of blueberries (and drinking green tea and sugar-free pomegranate juice), can be VERY beneficial! All these small things add up to eliminate plaque and create a healthier oral microbiome.
