My guest today, Erin Wathen, is a food expert. She came to understand how we diet and why we don’t do well on them after her own personal journey of yo-yo dieting — starting from when she was only 15 years old. This is a story that so many of us can relate to but don’t know how to break free from.
In this episode, Erin talks extensively about food addiction and we go into great detail about how it’s not food that we are after, but actually, feelings that we are chasing. More explicitly, it’s actually a neurochemical reaction that we are trying to elicit. All of us on some level have a challenge with food addiction. And today, Erin breaks it all down for us. She explains how emotional components come into play with unhealthy eating habits, why we gain weight in the first place, how to stop yo-yo dieting and become a mindful eater, the connection between the food we choose to eat and its influence on our sleep and she gives us her five essential tips to literally be healthier by the end of this week!

More About Erin Wathen
Erin Wathen is a holistic health coach, food abuse counselor and the author of Why Can’t I Stick to My Diet?: How To End The Food Drama. Originally from the West Coast, Erin worked in human resources in NYC for many years.
As a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) and a Food Addiction Counselor (INFACT), Erin understands the science behind health. As a Certified Spinning® Instructor (STAR 3), Vinyasa Yoga instructor (200 Hour) and Classical
Pilates instructor, she understands the mechanics of health as well. Fortunately,
she also knows how to break it all down into everyday language for her clients.
Despite her wealth of knowledge on diet and exercise, Erin was not at peace with her body. She found true nutrition to be the missing piece of the puzzle. She was always on a diet and yet never reached her goal weight. Through a lot of trial and error, Erin found her last diet, which became her food plan and the basis of her book, Why Can’t I Stick to My Diet? The book is currently available online at Amazon and will be available in bookstores November 2018.
Her philosophy simply put: Health isn’t a number on the scale or how often
we exercise, but our lives as a whole. She partners with her clients to work on
solutions that fit into their lifestyle, empowering them to live their healthiest life
in our crazy world.

More sleep means making healthier choices during the day, and a healthy diet is a key to feeling better!
