Today I am so excited to be sharing with all of you my latest 5 a.m. project: The Entrepology Planner. Like many entrepreneurs, I have this moderate obsession with physical planners. They are truly what keep me being productive all day, staying effective throughout my weeks, and on top of my game all year-’round. But, finding the one perfect planner was just a little out of reach. So, I decided to take things into my own hands by creating one to rule them all using proven Entrepology systems that I use within my practice, personal life, and with the coaches that I work with.

In this episode, I’ll be taking you through what makes The Entrepology Planner so unique; the various templates and frameworks that will guide you through creating your perfect days, weeks, months, and years; how it addresses “deep work” days, your KPIs, and daily habits; and ultimately, where you can get your hands on the first available copies!

Entrepology, to me, is the study and confluence of entrepreneurship, mindset, and health. I literally brought to birth a journal that enables you to attend to all of those pieces.

Key Takeaways:

[:42] Kicking off the podcast by giving thanks to those who make The Entrepology Podcast possible each week!

[1:36] About today’s episode: the 5 a.m. project.

[2:22] What a 5 a.m. project is and how it manifested for me in creating The Entrepology Planner.

[6:26] All about The Entrepology Planner; who it is designed for and why it is unique to other planners.

[8:06] Key sections in the planner that make up The Entrepology Time System.

[9:55] The four different types of “days” in The Entrepology Time System.

[12:54] How the planner addresses “deep work” days.

[15:10] The Entrepology Planner’s unique week template.

[15:49] A key aspect of the Time System: “play days” and “dream time,” and why incorporating these will help you become a more effective thinker.

[17:13] How the week template is split up into two key parts: 1) The things you have to do, and 2) The things you want to be.

[17:33] How the planner helps you track your KPIs (and why this is so important!)

[19:58] Another cool component of the planner: the Pomodoro Technique.

[21:43] How to create effective rituals, goals, and daily habits using different sections in The Entrepology Planner.

[22:55] Version 1 of The Entrepology Planner is now available! Here’s how to download your copy today.

[25:09] Thanking all of you for hanging out with me for these last four years on The Entrepology Podcast!

Tweetables:

“If I was willing to get up at 5 a.m. to work on this for a quarter of the year [I asked myself], ‘Would I do that?’ And honestly, I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m going to get up at 5 a.m. and I’m going to affectionately name this the ‘5 a.m. project.’” — Meghan Walker

“Creating a planner was not my life’s purpose but it was something that I was irrationally passionate about — and so I made space to do it at 5 a.m.” — Meghan Walker

“I really think that if you’ve got something you’re excited about, that you’re willing to get out of bed at 5 am to complete … then it’s worth exploring.” — Meghan Walker

“If you’re going to start to build your life and purpose, and work within a vertical of purpose, you need to create the time and space in order for that to happen.” — Meghan Walker

“Actually take a break; Actually step up and stretch, because there is no amount of research that suggests that sitting at your desk all day is going to make you more productive, or more creative, or more efficacious within your business.” — Meghan Walker

Today we have an incredibly important episode. My guest is the founder of Post Betrayal Transformation (PBT) Institute; a holistic psychologist; and a health, mindset, and personal development expert. She’s been on FOX, CBS, The Dr. Oz Show, TEDx (twice), and more. She is also the best-selling author of the book, The Unshakable Woman: 4 Steps to Rebuilding Your Body, Mind, and Life After a Life Crisis, and her newest book, Trust Again: Overcoming Betrayal and Regaining Health, Confidence, and Happiness.

Dr. Debi Silber is an incredible leader when it comes to understanding the psychology, physiology, and mindset that we need to be able to approach the idea of betrayal.

In this episode, Debi shares her own life experience with betrayal, the five stages of betrayal that you should know about, and the one stage of betrayal in particular where we all get stuck: the stage that prevents us from healing, moving forward, and living a life with meaning.

This conversation was truly enlightening and I cannot wait for you all to tune in to hear Dr. Debi Silber’s wisdom.

Today I am super excited to delve into a subject that falls smack dab in the middle of mindset, body, and entrepreneurship. This subject is the epitome of what it means to study and look at entrepology… and that is burnout.

As entrepreneurs and business owners, we’ve all experienced burnout at least once in our lifetime. And what’s really exciting about my two guests today is that they are absolute experts on all things burnout and even have a framework for it that can help all of us recognize where we are on the trajectory to burnout… and reverse it before we completely crash.

“A lot of people equate burnout with exhaustion and that’s just a piece of burnout; it’s a stage of burnout. … There’s a progression. We don’t just wake up one morning and go, ‘I’m exhausted … I have no idea where this came from.’” — Dr. Erin Wiebe

“We need cortisol in order to feel alert and have a … normal circadian rhythm. But, in the exhaustion phase [of burnout], we have a … very low cortisol response. So, as the demands … compound, and we require the ability to adapt to stress, we aren’t able to.” — Dr. Erin Wiebe

“[With burnout], we start to feel less impassioned by the things in our life that usually light us up … like our work. We start to feel resentment towards the things in life that we actually love and value.” — Dr. Erin Wiebe

Today I am taking you through a framework that I have been working on for the better part of the last five years. This framework encompasses and represents what Entrepology truly is all about — the investigation and study of what it takes to be a high-performing entrepreneur — where I’ve found that the confluence for this existing is in understanding and breaking apart the mindset of what drives people to create, their capacity to take risks, their health, and of course their inherent entrepreneurial skills that bring it all together.

What I am taking you all through today is a list of eight categories of things that, together, encompass the “Entrepology Life System” (or ELS for short). All of these pieces are important considerations that we need to be aware of and have in balance that will help enable us to live a successful, fulfilling life.

Tweetables:

“Your destiny [isn’t cancer.] There are so many things that you can do to take a hold of how the environment is playing a role in turning [certain] genes on and off.” — Lori Bouchard

“[Cancer] is 5-10% genetic ... but then really 90% of it is the epigenetic part to the story – what we choose to eat every day, what toxicities we are around, even the people that we hang out with. If we are around really toxic, negative people, that is just as bad for our health vs someone who eats Big Macs every day.” — Lori Bouchard

“We all have cancer cells. That’s the reality of it. … So we have to look at how our immune system is focusing and getting rid of these abnormal cells every single day.” — Lori Bouchard

“[My] mission [is] to help people realize our [bodies are] phenomenal and amazing. My purpose is really spreading that message and helping people realize how powerful they are.” — Lori Bouchard

Today we are talking about one of my most favorite things to discuss how to be an audacious woman! One of the key qualities that I’ve noticed that distinguish entrepreneurs who are absolutely killing it from those who say they’ve “already tried everything” is the willingness to step outside the norm, a willingness to be uncomfortable, and the ability to take bold risks.

My guest today, Chana Ross, is someone whom I deeply respect for her audaciousness, risk-taking personality, and level-headedness. She is definitely no stranger to making bold decisions, stepping into discomfort, and saying, “Hell yes!” when an opportunity comes her way. She is a pelvic health physiotherapist, clinic owner, business coach, podcast host, mother of four, and a pioneer of the virtual practice space.

In this episode, we unpack every aspect of what it takes to be an audacious woman. Chana shares her personal story and career journey, how to know when it is the right time to make an uncomfortable choice, how to live life on your own terms, how to become more decisive and trust yourself, and the key pieces you need to put in place to become more confident, bold, and audacious!

Key Takeaways:

“I … realized the reason why women are suffering every month with PMS symptoms is because of the hormonal imbalance that doesn’t get addressed. And of course, in conventional medicine, it’s treated with birth control. Because that’s definitely not the answer. — Kate Vasquez

“There are a lot of disorders and conditions associated with estrogen dominance that women aren’t aware of, such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, PCOS … breast cancer. … [Women] are not aware because we put these labels on them and they’re treated a certain way.” — Kate Vasquez

“A lot of women will ask me, ‘Well, does my period start the cycle? Or is it at the end of the cycle?’ So it’s really important that we … educate women because the menstrual phase is the start of the cycle. So day one of your period is day one of the cycle.” — Kate Vasquez

We have the power to create health and disorder in the body. … Being mindful of our thoughts can really affect the quality of our life and how our cells respond.” — Kate Vasquez

“If we can optimize and maximize our sleep, we’re going to feel so much better. Even studies have proven [that] it reduces chronic disorders, … [and] it actually helps with our hormones. ... I would say optimizing your sleep is probably the best health hack.” — Kate Vasquez

Today, we’re going to be exploring a tool and a mechanism for healing that, for a very long time, was suppressed because of societal messaging. And that tool is psychedelic-assisted healing.

This is an arena that has the opportunity to be flooded with funding and research. For a long time, we as humans have been connected to various forms of plant medicine and various Indigenous groups have made the use of psychedelics an important part of ceremonial healing.

So today, we’re going to break down some of the science, some of the legal avenues that people have to be able to explore, leverage, and utilize psychedelics to accentuate and expedite their healing.

Leading us through this conversation today is my friend and colleague, Angela Ward! As a Registered Nurse, Transformational Coach, and “Soul Midwife,” Angela helps move people through a healing journey by leveraging psychedelics. She helps facilitate the coming together of the medical side, the spiritual side, and the psychotropic side of psychedelics as a tool for healing.

Though this might be a method of healing you are not interested in trying out for yourself, I invite you to listen to this episode, regardless! I want you to go into this episode with an open mind and think outside the box of how things have always been done.

Key Takeaways:

[1:22] About today’s conversation with Angela Ward.

[5:13] Welcoming Angela to the podcast!

[5:40] Angela shares her career journey and how she became interested in working with psychedelics as a tool for healing.

[8:53] How do psychedelics help with healing?

[12:41] How and when did the healing potential of psychedelics begin to emerge and get picked up in the medical field?

[17:01] What Angela is most excited about right now when it comes to legalizing psychedelics as a tool for healing.

[18:23] Angela shares what it is like to work with her in using psychedelics to heal in a medical setting.

[22:37] How Angela’s patients continue to work with her and implement change after their psychedelic healing experience.

[23:33] The history of Ketamine and how it became discovered as a tool for healing.

[26:32] An overview of the psychedelics that are used in healing.

[30:32] How does somebody know if they would be a good candidate for psychedelic healing?

[35:51] How does a practitioner know if they should bring this into their practice?

[37:30] Angela speaks about the opportunities she has available to practitioners that want to learn more about this method of practice.

This is a subject matter I’m incredibly passionate about, and that’s purpose! It’s the cornerstone of my methodology because we need purpose to serve as our guiding light when things don’t seem all that certain or when adversity strikes.

My guest today is Tallia Deljou and finding purpose is something she dedicates her life to and coaches her clients on how to ask smarter questions to really step away from your “work” or “parent” identity and really find what’s true and impactful for you.

In this episode, we learn about purpose. How you define it, how you find it, why it’s important, and so much more! People often think they've found purpose, but the moment they lose their job, or retire, or their children move out of the home, their purpose seems to crumble.

Tallia offers insight on how to cultivate purpose that’s so sustainable that it doesn’t matter when you walk away from an identity, you can still live an authentic and meaningful life.

Key Takeaways:

[1:20] About today’s episode with Tallia Deljou.

[2:45] Welcoming Tallia to the podcast.

[5:45] How does Tallia define purpose?

[8:20] How do you really live a life of purpose when you have student loans, kids, and adult responsibilities?

[11:10] Is purpose a privilege? Don’t get in your own way. Don’t let this mindset stop you from striving for purpose.

[14:00] Everyone here has the permission to pursue their purpose.

[15:35] Your roles and identity are constantly changing. That doesn’t mean you picked the wrong path.

[17:55] People convince themselves they have to pick. In reality, you can have both.

[18:50] You get to write your own rules.

[19:00] How do we know when we’ve found our purpose or are just following a path we think society wants for us?

[21:35] List out all the different roles and personas you play in your daily life, whether that be as a spouse, a parent, a daughter/son to your parents, your friends, and more.

[26:55] When you have a purpose, you don’t pool everything you have into one identity.

[28:55] When your loved ones give you good advice, you still need to have a filter to see what parts of that information are true or relevant for you and where you are in life.

[31:10] Rapid fire questions! Tallia shares a book that’s really impacted her this year.

Tallia is all about diving in and finding what’s important to you, and how to be so unapologetic about it! If you are looking to strengthen your meaning and purpose in life, then get ready to go beyond the superficial and get into what roles and identities you play in your everyday life. What is your relationship like with yourself? With others? Are you convinced you can’t have it all? This is a limiting belief you must break.

Today I am joined by Dr. Angela Cortal! Dr. Cortal is a Naturopathic Doctor from the West Coast with a focus on joint pain and chronic pain mitigation in her practice. She is also the best-selling author of the new book, Younger Joints Today. She is incredibly passionate about reversing degenerative joint disease by addressing the root causes.

Even if you don’t experience joint pain or chronic pain, I still highly recommend that you listen up and tune in! Dr. Cortal’s message of addressing the root cause of chronic pain rather than covering it up with medication is so, so important.

Our conversation today is really about the things that we can do to improve our capacity to heal post-injury, as well as what we can do to mitigate the chronic pain that we all begin to naturally experience as we age. Dr. Cortal addresses the relationship between our hormones and our increased propensity for injury and increased capacity to feel pain; the choices that we can make every single day (regardless of our age) to mitigate chronic pain as we progress through life; and what we can do to keep our bodies feeling and performing at their best.

This conversation is extremely invaluable for everybody and I highly recommend you tune in!

[4:00] Dr. Cortal shares her backstory and what led her to become incredibly passionate about chronic pain.

[9:29] The current divide in the healthcare system.

[10:03] How many of the patients that Dr. Cortal has worked with, would she say, have been given an appropriate protocol to take them from an acute injury to functional?

[12:09] For patients moving out of the acute injury phase, what does Dr. Cortal recommend that they be aware of in this intermediate phase while they’re healing?

[14:29] The connection between hormones and chronic pain when it comes to recovery.

[16:02] The risk for injuries in those with hormonal challenges.

[17:50] Long-term diet choices that can be problematic to our joints and chronic pain.

[23:20] For those who are plant-based eaters, has Dr. Cortal noticed an increased propensity for pain during recovery?

[24:50] Exercises that we should be engaging at 35 years old and older to mitigate chronic pain and increase our ability to recover from acute injury.

[27:28] Dr. Cortal’s key performance indicators!

[29:47] Where to learn more about Angela and her work.

[30:15] Thanking Dr. Cortal for joining the podcast!

BADASS FUEL — Fuel for Badass Women

Scientifically Supported Ingredients | Support, Not Replacement | Non-GMO

Two years ago, someone asked me what supplements I take to maintain my health, energy, and edge — and they were surprised that I only took four things consistently. For myself and my patients, there are four basics that support — at a foundational level — nearly every system in our bodies. In my quest for the highest quality ingredients and the easiest system for consistently incorporating supplementation into my routine, I formulated and manufactured my own line of foundational supplements. Trusted for myself and my patients, and under the guidance of your own healthcare provider, I’m excited to invite you to check out our foundational product line: Badass Basics. More About James Barry

James Barry began his sixteen-plus years in the culinary field as a private chef. His inauguration into restaurant-style cooking came later when he was the vegan/vegetarian chef on the Vans Warped Tour, which traveled to 50 North American cities in 60 days. Upon returning to Los Angeles, James continued to be a private chef and had the fortune of cooking for celebrities such as Tom Cruise, Mariska Hargitay, George Clooney, Gerard Butler, Sean “Puffy” Combs, Barbra Streisand, and John Cusack. Not wanting to limit the audience of his healthy and tasty style of cooking, James started Wholesome2Go, a healthy, high-quality food delivery company that served under his leadership in the Los Angeles area for eight years.

Most recently, James launched my first functional food product, Pluck; an organ-based, all-purpose seasoning. This seasoning is the first of its kind and an amazingly easy and delicious way for people to get organ meats into their diet.

James also co-authored the recipes in Margaret Floyd’s book, Eat Naked, and co-authored the follow-up cookbook, The Naked Foods Cookbook. He also recently co-authored the recipes in Dr. Alejandro Junger’s book, Clean 7.

There are certain things that I’ve made the decision about a long time ago that I would never talk about online. One of these topics that I said I would never discuss publicly was vaccines. Can you think of a more controversial topic? I’ve done podcasts on sex, politics, and money — all of which can be fairly taboo  — but vaccines take the cake.

But today, we’re going to go there.

We’re going to not just discuss the current landscape of vaccines, but the idea of informed consent. How do we, as individuals, take radical responsibility for our own health? How do we make an informed decision when we’re only hearing one side of the message? This whole conversation is about informing a new way for you to think; it is not about informing what I want you to do.

I hope you’ll join me in pulling back the curtain on this entire discussion around vaccines.

Key Takeaways:

[:42] About today’s controversial topic.

[2:24] Why the discussion of vaccinations is not black and white, but in fact, grey.

[2:54] Why it is important for us to be able to have nuanced conversations around vaccines.

[4:00] Why I named this episode, “Why I got the jab and also why that’s not your business.”

[5:40] The current landscape of COVID-19 vaccinations and why I made the decision to get the jab.

[7:54] How we are alienating others in making a different type of informed consent.

[9:13] This conversation is really about: what types of questions could or should you be asking as someone willing and able to take responsibility for their own health?

[10:25] What I’ve learned as a clinician about the hesitation around getting the vaccine.

[13:11] The 30-thousand-foot view of vaccines.

[14:05] Why we ultimately need to make the best choice for ourselves on an individual level.

[15:40] What the normal vaccine development process looks like vs. the COVID-19 vaccine development process.

[16:36] Why deciding whether or not you’re going to get the vaccine is, in fact, a very nuanced perspective when you get to the ground level.

[17:31] This is a situation that requires that we have the opportunity to move forward in our decision-making from a place of informed consent.

[18:32] How to provide informed consent to patients.

[20:09] The information that we are entitled to receive in order to make an informed, consensual decision around our health.

[25:48] The most important pieces we need to clear about when it comes to vaccines.

[26:38] We need to be aware of peer pressure so that we can make autonomous decisions with respect to our health.

[27:22] Why it is imperative that we approach this situation as critical thinkers during this time.

[29:40] Most importantly: we need to stop judging others’ decisions.

[30:18] Why I felt it was important to open the door on this conversation.
