My guest today Marni Wasserman is no stranger to the health and wellness world! Her life is rooted in healthy eating, healthy living, and being a healthy mom. And not only is she a nutritionist and chef, but she’s also the co-host of the highly-acclaimed hit podcast, The Ultimate Health Podcast, as well as the brand new podcast, The Ultimate Baby Podcast. She’s also the author of Fermenting for Dummies and Plant-Based Diet For Dummies!

Marni uses her passion and experience to educate individuals and mommas on how to adopt a real food diet and balanced lifestyle through simple, natural strategies. What you’ll hear in today’s interview are not only the strategies that Marni uses in her own life but the advice she gives to women all over the world. Marni is truly a natural-born entrepreneur. She’s an incredible example of when you put your passion first, your business will naturally follow. She is transparent in how she forms her own health decisions, and that transparency and natural capacity to teach have made her a master educator in the realm of healthy eating, healthy living, and most recently, healthy parenting. I’ve known Marni for many years, I admire her work deeply, and I am so excited for the opportunity to bring this conversation to you all today!

[42:49] About Fullscript.

[43:15] Food for thought: what motivated your own dietary choices? Was it the science, was it how it felt, was it a prescription from somebody else, was it the government food guide or was it your mom’s way of cooking? And is there an opportunity now to elevate the type of food you’re taking into your system; moving it off of autopilot and into a state of conscious eating? And for those who have been eating a certain way for a long time, would you be willing to challenge your own eating dogma if it meant you would actually feel better? Are you interested in breaking the rules of the diet you are on, in a quest for even better health? Are you sticking to your diet because you identify with it or because it is making you feel your absolute best? Let’s continue this conversation over on The Entrepology Collective!

BADASS FUEL — Fuel for Badass Women

Scientifically Supported Ingredients | Support, Not Replacement | Non-GMO

Two years ago, someone asked me what supplements I take to maintain my health, energy, and edge and they were surprised that I only took four things consistently. For myself and my patients, there are four basics that support — at a foundational level — nearly every system in our bodies. In my quest for the highest quality ingredients and the easiest system for consistently incorporating supplementation to my routine, I formulated and manufactured my own line of foundational supplements. Trusted for myself and my patients, and under the guidance of your own healthcare provider, I’m excited to invite you to check out our foundational product line: Badass Basics. CALL TO ACTION

The food choices we make every single day provide an opportunity to reorient our own personal leadership over and over again. And part of leadership is acknowledging when you need to make a change (because there’s rarely one thing that is going to serve you for your entire life). Marni’s journey really speaks to this. We do not need to be dogmatic with our diets; ultimately, it is important to simply do what is best for you and makes you feel your best.

Marni and I would love to hear about what your current diet looks like and where you see there could be room for improvement. Follow-up with us on The Entrepology Collective and let us know!

Aug 11, 2020

Since April 2020, the employment of women in Canada has dropped by 7%. Over that same period, the employment of men has dropped by 3%. In fact, as we sit here in July of 2020 we are seeing the lowest level of employment of women in over three decades in Canada.

As you know, this is a podcast about innovation, badassery, health, and entrepreneurship and I would be remiss if we did not talk about this situation going on in the world right now as it pertains to elevating the voices of women as entrepreneurs and leaders.

So, on today’s podcast, I am going solo to explore the opportunity we have to create a new future. Let’s start this conversation and be the catalyst for change as we begin to move into a post-pandemic world.

Key Takeaways:

[:19] About today’s episode.

[1:41] The differences between the conversations men and women are having around the pandemic.

[4:20] How we can test whether a system is truly working well and how this pandemic has provided us with an opportunity.

[5:25] One of the challenges we are facing right now: balancing our life and our children’s school day.

[10:57] The glaring disparities within our society that COVID-19 has shed a light on.

[11:21] The two primary sources of stress I see in adults that I work with, in a clinical context.

[12:30] My proposition regarding the school system/society issue and how we can provide a better future for our children.

[15:27] What I’m aspiring for my life and my children’s lives to be like on the other side of COVID-19.

[16:37] My intention behind this conversation.

[17:28] What I would love from all of you: let’s carry this conversation forward. This is the future I see for us as female entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders.

Let’s get super honest. Addressing your business, your body, your balance, your inner-badass — none of these things are possible if you are in a state of chronic pain. When that headache, back pain — or whatever pain you are experiencing — emerges, everything else is moved to the side.

My guest today, Dr. Daina Patel, is a chiropractor and an expert in preventing chronic pain. She works with high-performing women, in particular, to address all of the lifestyle pieces that are either perpetuating the pain that they are feeling or to prevent the pain from manifesting in the first place. In this episode, she breaks down this notion of prevention and addressing chronic pain in a really comprehensive and amazing manner.

With all of us sitting around more than ever due to the current global pandemic, it’s especially important that we know about these key pieces of chronic pain prevention. Tune in with Dr. Patel and me to learn more about how to holistically approach the management and prevention of chronic pain, how your psychological state can manifest physical pain in the body, and the pieces you can begin to put into place immediately to perfect your posture, prevent pain, and optimize your performance!

[14:45] How stress causes further inflammation which causes more pain.

[16:11] How your psychological state can manifest physical pain in the body.

[18:08] The role movement plays in helping prevent chronic pain.

[21:22] How we can put together an exercise/movement plan to maximize our mobility.
